FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you want to know
Don't see your question? Reach out via WhatsApp or email support@velopass.com
But even if someone succeeds: at registration we also store the brand and frame number of your bike. Your bike stays traceable through that combination — just like a car without a licence plate can still be found via its chassis number. The Frame-ID just makes it faster and easier.
On top of that, Velopass blocks any attempt to re-register a bike that's already known, based on the brand + frame number combination. A thief therefore cannot re-register your bike under their name.
Want to check if your bike is registered? Search by brand + frame number on Bike check →
In the past, your national ID number was engraved — that's a privacy risk. Your personal ID was literally visible on your bike.
The Velopass Frame-ID replaces this entirely:
Does your Velopass code start with VP? Then you most likely bought it in France. In France, bike registration is required by law and must be done by the seller — the bike shop. The shop registers the bike at sale; you can't do this yourself online. Contact your bike shop if registration hasn't happened yet.
Is it a lease bike? Lease bikes are registered in the leasing company's name (Joule is an exception — there you do have your own account). In that case you don't have your own Velopass account, but the bike shop can read your bike and add maintenance. Is your bike lost or stolen? Report it to the leasing company — they can mark the bike as missing.
